graphic design & marketing
I'M KAMILA;
Yes, an accidental designer. I say this because graphic design was my hobby before I made it my career.

Although I originally enrolled at Virginia Tech as Visual Arts student, I irrationally decided it was not for me approximately 12 hours into my first semester. Panicked, I scribbled out "art student" next to my name and wrote "communications student" instead.

Fast forward two years and I somehow landed the role of Marketing Associate at Virginia Tech Services (aka, designer of e-blasts, fliers, promotions, you name it). Another 12 hours in, I thought to myself "rats, I should have stuck with this".

But the story isn't over. I'm glad I can't call myself a recipient of a visual arts degree. I'm glad I was never so overworked that I fell out of love with design like so many students do.

Dropping out of the art program was the best decision I've ever made because it has led me to where I am today; Completely and totally in love with what I do. I don't feel that I'm missing anything that a formal education would have given me. My creativity comes naturally, it was my technical writing skills that I'm glad I learned in a classroom.

So yes, I'm an accidental designer. And proud of it.
